Snow day(s)!

Oh yes!  Our favorite (as a teacher, sometimes LEAST favorite) words!  For someone in the fourth week of her marathon training schedule, snow is definitely not very welcome, especially with single digit temperatures happening.  That's a big distraction to me. Especially when it's so cozy indoors with my DVR'ed Downton Abbey, my ideas to actually start blogging my running adventures, and an afternoon nap.

I haven't gotten back into my marathon training mindset quite yet, as I skipped the first two weeks for the long run sakes.  What?!  Jeni, I have no clue what you're talking about!  Basically I skipped my first two weeks of my training schedule, because I wouldn't be ready for my NJ marathon at the end of March, and conditioned to run it in an acceptable (to me) time.  I love knowing my body and my limits and taking liberties.  I did my first long run on Sunday (11 rock star miles!!!!) to the Cranberries' Pandora station.

Seriously - best idea ever.  Clocked just under ten minute miles (perfect marathon pace for the spring to get my time down!) along the Potomac river up to and around Mount Vernon's property.  I couldn't help smiling and waving at all of my brave fellow walker/runners. I'm sure they all thought I was crazy. Not many people out but SERIOUSLY the sunshine and scenery put me in a great mood.

I need to figure out how to add photos to my entries...especially since I am so photogenic and love to take and post pictures of everything. That will be tomorrow's activity, as I brave the ice and polar temps to get myself a medium length run in...and the phone needs to be there as I fall and black and blue myself.

Freezing cold after the inaugural Pittsburgh 10 miler.  I finished just 25 seconds over my goal time, after a necessary bathroom break at mile 7.  I also lost my friend Nina after I missed her at the bananas.
